Mural created for the Queen Elizabeth hotel lobby in Montreal.

This mural invites a visual exploration of the space. “TypoScape” is a post-dogmatic abstraction—a dialogue between typography and sculpture where the Art Deco letter, freed from its literal meaning, transforms into a pure compositional element.

The letters, cut and reassembled, create unprecedented forms that interact with light and shadows. Playing with varying depths, the piece creates an abstract urban landscape that appears to float on the wall.

The mural spans 35 feet, echoing the hotel’s modernist architecture. It is a study in scale, where the microscopic and the monumental meet. The motif repeats and overlaps, creating lines and textures that recall classic Art Deco patterns and the rhythm of urban composition.

Beyond its aesthetic appeal, “TypoScape” embodies a deeper reflection on communication and language. By disassembling the letters, we are invited to rediscover their form and inherent power, appreciating the beauty of typography beyond its function.
