Gallery Blanc, an innovative concept by FUTIL Design, has transformed the public space of Montreal’s Village into an open-air art gallery. Conceived by artists for artists, this unique venue honors artworks by placing them in an outdoor context that evolves with the seasons and the elements.
An Open-Air Museum Experience:
The goal was to create a space accessible 24 hours a day, facilitating an encounter between art and the public, day and night. By using modern architectural and minimalist conventions, Galerie Blanc has successfully transposed the museum experience into an outdoor environment, inviting visitors to contemplation, innovation, and discovery.
The layout is divided into different zones, creating distinct alcoves that each artist can claim. This approach allows for a harmonious integration into the urban context while creating a place that stands out for its function and clean design.
A Jewel of the Village:
Supported by the SDC Village and the City of Montreal, this project has been a resounding success. As a gallery, the quality of its installations has attracted renowned local and international artists, helping to showcase talent and innovation from around the world. With over 6 million visitors, Galerie Blanc has quickly become one of the cultural jewels of the Village.
This concept of constant openness also helped secure the site without the need for closure. To discover the artists who have marked the various annual editions, feel free to visit the link.
